San Jacinto. The temperature at the top might be 40 degrees cooler than the temperature on the valley floor, so you might need a jacket if you plan to spend time at the top. The views of the Coachella Valley are very impressive. So why was I nervous? A few years ago, one of the tramcars got stranded about halfway up the mountain, and the passengers were in that hanging car for several hours. Finally an employee, who happened to be a passenger, figured out how to free the tangled cable. Um... I would have been really upset by the experience, since I have some fear of heights. But everything ended well on my trip. The views were great. Close to Palm Springs but...... straight UP! Windy and cold so take a jacket even in the summer time.
