The LA based Gorman, is a leading portrait photographer of Hollywood celebrities. His work has been seen in leading national magazine features and covers including Esquire, GQ, Life, Newsweek, Time, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. Gorman primarily works in black and white and there have been 11 books published featuring his photography. He has also directed music videos, TV ads, and graphic design for advertisers. Mr Gorman’s photography is available for acquisition at the Fair in the Sohn Fine Art Gallery (booth #105). For over four decades, Greg Gorman has mastered the art of photography and portrait photography, taking famous photographs of celebrities including Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson and Bruce Willis. From his famous celebrity portraits and advertising campaigns to magazine layouts and fine art work, Greg Gorman has developed and showcased a unique and renowned style in the photography world. Greg Gorman will receive the 2014 Photographer of the Year award, presented by actor Udo Kier, and do a book signing at a special VIP reception at the Fair that is expected to attract a strong LGBT contingent. See Greg Gorman Photos. Greg’s work documents that peculiar obsession of the 21st century celebrity. Each shot gives a picture of human nature in its infinite range. Each picture is also a testament to the individual character. “For me a photograph is most successful when it doesn’t answer all the questions,” says Gorman, “and it leaves something to the imagination.” When not shooting famous faces, Greg travels the world for specialized photographic projects and continues to work on compilations of his imagery. A book of his photos for the award winning l.a. Eyeworks campaign, entitled Framed: Greg Gorman for l.a. Eyeworks was released in 2012. In the fall of 2009, Damiani Editore released In Their Youth: Early Portraits, which incorporates forty years of unpublished work. These join Gorman’s previously published books Greg Gorman Volume I, Greg Gorman Volume II, Inside Life, Perspectives, As I See It, Just Between Us and a book of platinum prints entitled Odes to Pindar, published by The Journal of the 21st Century. His work has been seen in national magazine features and covers, including Esquire, GQ, Interview, Life, Newsweek, Time and Vanity Fair. Greg Gorman has been recognized for his contribution to the world of photography as well as his charitable works by The Lucie Foundation, The Elton John Aids Foundation, Aids Healthcare Foundation, Focus on Aids, The Oscar De La Hoya Foundation, Vox/Out Voices of Style + Design, PETA, Angel Art, Pacific Design Center Stars of Design, and PawsLA. Born in 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, Greg attended the University of Kansas from 1967-69 with a major in photojournalism. He completed his studies at the University of Southern California, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts degree in cinematography in 1972. He currently divides his time between his homes in Los Angeles and Mendocino, California. About Udo Kier Mr. Kier has appeared in more than 200 European and American films. One of his most important earlier films was Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein. He has appeared in many horror and aspire films including Susiria (1977) and Blade (1988). He has been in several cult films such as Epidemic (1987), My Own Private Idaho (1991), Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), Armageddon (1994), Barb Wire (1994). A Documentary on his life and career entitled, “Me Udo…The Actor Udo Kier“, was filmed in 2012 for the French-German channel in Europe and awarded Finalist at the NY Documentary Festival.
