An Evening of LGBT Research Results

The LGBT Community Center of the Desert's is proud to present Dr. Brian de Vries, professor of Gerontology at SF State University and a preeminent research psychologist on LGBT older adults, on Friday, March 20th, 5:30-7:30pm at The Center. He will be presenting his latest research findings on a study he just completed on spousal caregivers. The title of his presentation is "Preparations for End of Life Among LGBT Older Adults". We hope you will join us for this rare opportunity to hear directly from Dr. De Vries, the lead researcher on the study. He will present qualitative data, from both Palm Springs and Vancouver Canada, that reveal the challenges in navigating conversations about end of life preparations. Following Dr. de Vries’ presentation, Dr. Jill Gover, Director of Mental Health Services at The LGBT Community Center of the Desert, will present a snapshot summary of the mental health portion of the Riverside County Public Health 2014 report, “The LGBT Health & Wellness Profile”. Synthesizing existing research, this report aims to shed light on what is currently known about the mental health status of Riverside County’s LGBT community, compared to national and state data.
