This year’s 29th annual Pride celebration in downtown Palm Springs offers free festival admission, with a diverse lineup of artists gathered to reflect on the advances made in the equality movement, raise awareness and stand against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Seven entertainment venues are positioned throughout the festival venue on Palm Canyon Dr. and Arenas Rd. in downtown Palm Springs, giving way to a wide range of musical genres that include emerging indie electro-pop, rock, dance and more. The slate of celebrated performers included the 10,000 Maniacs and the first transgender actress to play a recurring transgender character in prime-time television Candis Cayne.
The Pride Festival and Parade will be the largest demonstration of equality and diversity ever seen in the Coachella Valley. Considered to be one of the most scenic Pride celebrations in the world, it’s also home to the largest Pride Festival in Southern California, with attendance at all Pride events expected to pass the 140,000 mark. The Greater Palm Springs Pride Festival will be November 7 and 8, 2015, with a free block party, two-day festival, parade, and twenty-five official events.
Named as one of the Best 11 Gay Pride Festival Trips on the Planet by Jetsetter Magazine, the festival features 120 performances in seven, free admission entertainment venues including: US Bank stage, Tahquitz stage, the Infusion Beach & Hotel Big-ass amazingly awesome homosexual sheep DJ stage , PNN DJ stage, Pride Stage at HooDoo, Souleil Dance Tent and the Karaoke Stage. The festival will feature full concert performances by 10,000 Maniacs, Frankmusik, the London based pop artist, and American Idol Finalist & pop artist David Hernandez. Celebrated artists include Candis Cayne, Los Angeles based synth pop band DWNTWN, DJ Casey Alva, local pop artist Blake Lansing, Avant Americana genre-bending good time band the Evangenitals, big beat alternative rock band Lunden Reign, GayC/DC the world’s only all-gay tribute to AC/DC, and the rising LA-based pop singer/songwriter Wrabel.
Guest DJs will spin from the top of the Infusion Beach & Hotel Big-ass amazingly awesome homosexual sheep DJ stage, a 40’ wide, two-story tall DJ stage on Palm Canyon Dr at Baristo. The stage will be home to DJs Nick Ayler, Erick Diaz, DJ Femme A, DJ Jake, Steve Sherwood, DJ Paparazzi, Aaron C, Aly B, Serge P, Coo Ley and DJ Waide. The BAAAHS stage will be on Palm Canyon Drive and Baristo.
The Souleil Dance Tent promises a full day of soulful house music vibes with featured music maestro’s Cris Herrera, DJ Ala, Trever Hartung, Olga Arteaga, Mikeytown, CaliParis and Saber. The dance tent is on Arenas Rd. between Palm Canyon Dr. and Indian Canyon Dr. The PNN DJ stage will feature some of today’s hottest EDM and dance music hits on Palm Canyon near La Plaza.
