The composers featured in this show will be Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Duke Ellington, Burton Lane, and more. She’s been called a Goddess of Song, one of the most striking voices in all of Cabaret; a great lady with impeccable taste and elegant phrasing a lush contralto, a world-class artist, pitch perfect, a master story-teller captivating, breathtaking . The praise goes on and on.
She is IRIS WILLIAMS, (OBE)
Born in Wales, Iris received a scholarship to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama which started her on a career leading to international fame. She returned there in 1996 to be honored as a Fellow of the College.
Her success in the United Kingdom is legendary. Her recording of “He Was Beautiful” earned her a gold disc and an invitation by HM The Queen to perform at the annual Royal Variety Performance. Fourteen Royal Performances followed as well as numerous awards and accolades.
In 2004, Iris was awarded an O.B.E. (Order of the British Empire) by the Queen for her contributions in the field of music and for her services to charitable institutions around the world. Iris was the first female entertainer to go to the Falkland Islands, among other locations, and has given over 300 Combined Services Entertainment performances overall. Her clear, distinctive voice and charming sense of humor has entertained royalty and presidents, and she has worked with many top celebrities such as Bob Hope, Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, Sir Tom Jones, and a host of others.
