Be care of the blackboard specials
I've walked past this place for years, it's right on the corner of "Gay and Gayer" in Palm Springs (Arenas & Indian Canyon). On a Sunday night they were pretty full and I was solo and the only table was a high top by the front window which was great. Friendly welcome, good service...interesting menu and they have a black board with specials, but no prices. Loooking at the menu I thought the place was competitively priced and just ordered off the blackboard...wrong thing to do, $10 for a tiny Brussel sprouts salad and $30 for Swordfish pushing those items up quite a bit from what normal menu prices were. The food was excellent, and service as well, but I was a bit blindsided when my bill came.

Great location great food a bit pricey, owner is a bit full of himself don't walk in with a Starbucks coffee in hand you will be asked to leave..

We go to Johannes every time we are in PS and are never disappointed. The menu is a bit more on the upscale/creative side, focusing on seasonal local and/or sustainable meats and produce, but isn't outrageously over priced. They offer a great drinks menu and wine list. The staff is always super friendly. It's a great place for a quiet dinner for 2 or a small group. Go, you won't be disappointed.
